Infant/ Yearling

6 weeks - 12 months / 12 months - 18 months

The Island believes that quality and individualized care is essential for our Infant/Yearling Program. Our staff provides a safe and healthy environment and are warm, loving and responsive to the needs of children. The overall growth and development of infants and yearlings changes so rapidly that our staff is alert to typical developmental stages. This awareness enables our staff to provide suitable activities and play materials in order to promote growth in the areas of language, social, motor and active exploration and overall cognitive development. We encourage self exploration through crawling, climbing, tumbling and laughter.

Toddler

18 months - 36 months

Our Toddlers make great strides towards independence, social awareness and languagebacquisition. These skills are enhanced through experiences such as potty training, arts and crafts, learning centers, music and movement and outdoor play. Our program encourages each child to explore his/her world through a variety of hands-on activities.

Preschool Program

Age 3

Our Preschoolers are introduced to pre-reading and writing skills, pre-math skills, science and nature, arts and crafts, lots of music and movement and singing and laughter. This program continues to foster independence, socialization and creativity while developing a love of learning in a warm and loving environment. Preschoolers must be close to mastering the skill of independent toileting. Our staff is sensitive to the fact that some children need role modeling for encouragement.

Pre-Kindergarten

Age 4 & 5

Our Pre-K children continue to practice reading and writing and math skills, while enjoying art and music expression related to a thematic curriculum. We focus on all readiness skills to ensure a solid preparation for Kindergarten. Pre-K also have plenty of outdoor play enhancing social skills and peer interaction.
